About Janie

Hi, I'm Janie, I'm a creative serial entrepreneur. I dabble in many things and spend much of my life exploring and learning and experimenting with new things. I believe that very few things in life are mistakes, we are simply putting together the building blocks of our journey. I have undiagnosed ADHD so a lot of my posts touch on navigating a creative life amidst the challenges of ADHD.

I have many passions in life including: 

• fashion and costume design
• dancing (my first love was ballet, but I've also danced many other styles such as contemporary, jazz, burlesque, latin and ballroom, afro-latin and some swing)
• trends, subcultures, sociology and psychology (I find people very interesting and love exploring why people do what they do, wear what they wear and buy what they buy)
• painting and drawing - sometimes I use these as a way of developing my design ideas and sometimes I purely do these for relaxation and playfulness
• Lego - another way to tap into playfulness and childlikeness. There's something about the limitations of Lego that capture creative ideas better in some ways
• Interior design - I believe our environment has a huge influence on our entire existence. I also just enjoy seeing design principles being applied in different ways than how it's applied in fashion
• theatre - along with my original love for ballet, I've always felt a connection to theatre
• textile design - there's something about designing visuals that can be repeated indefinitely in any direction and still be seamless that's very addicting. I also just love textiles in general.
• pilates - besides dancing this is the second most enjoyable type of exercise I discovered while I was studying. We used to have early morning rooftop sessions and there's something about doing pilates during sunrise in the fresh air that wakes me up like few other things can.
• Animals - especially dogs. I grew up with always having dogs. They're one of my favourite animals and a type of companion I aspire to be more like. 
• Jesus - he should've been right at the top of the list to be honest. He's the reason why I live life the way that I do.
