Create momentum by creating
Don’t critique what you created before you even started
Recently, as I’ve been more focused on creating rather than the outcome, I’ve noticed something that made me stop creating every other time that I tried this (by ‘this’ I mean doing all the things surrounding creating art or content). The problem was always that I started critiquing what I’d done before I’d even created a substantial “body of work”. All great artists know that you have to create a lot of work to be able to produce good work. Your first 10 pieces won’t be masterpieces. Your 10th might be pretty decent but you’ll probably make a bunch of stuff you hate after that before you make something amazing again. The point is you have to create a lot. Only much later on should you really start assessing how to improve. As a starting point you just need to create momentum by creating a lot and creating consistently.
